Assess grade 3–5 students' understanding of the water cycle by testing definitions, sequence, and roles of evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection; ability to label a diagram; explain how each step moves water between the atmosphere, land, and bodies of water; predict simple effects of temperature or land changes on the cycle; and use key vocabulary (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection, runoff) in short written responses and a brief scenario-based explanation.
