Assess introductory undergraduate students’ recall of the U.S. Constitution’s separation of powers among the legislative, executive, and judicial branches; principal checks and balances (e.g., veto, override, appointments and confirmations, judicial review, impeachment); and basic federalism concepts including division of powers, reserved and concurrent powers, and the Supremacy Clause. Focus on definitions, identification of examples, and short-answer recognition.
