Assess students' ability to apply simple rules to sort common household items—paper and cardboard, plastic bottles, glass jars, metal cans, food scraps and plant matter, soiled paper or napkins, pizza boxes, and plastic wrappers—into recycling, compost, or trash. Test identification of material type and cleanliness/contamination through pictures or short scenarios; emphasize vocabulary (recycle, compost, trash) and decision-making appropriate for Pre-K–Grade 2.
