Assess students' ability to identify and analyze rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, logos), rhetorical devices (tone, diction, analogy, repetition), and common logical fallacies in persuasive essays. Using short essay excerpts, students will label strategies and fallacies, explain how each influences audience, evaluate the strength of evidence and reasoning, and propose revisions to strengthen or correct the argument. Require clear textual evidence and concise analytical explanations appropriate for Grades 9–12.
