Assess students’ ability to analyze and sketch polynomial functions: determine end behavior from degree and leading coefficient; identify real zeros and their multiplicities and explain crossing vs. touching behavior at each zero; count and locate turning points; and construct or sketch a plausible polynomial given zeros, multiplicities, and end-behavior constraints. Problems will require justification of reasoning and may include matching graphs to equations and writing possible polynomial equations of minimal degree.
