Evaluate students' understanding of how human activities modify the global carbon cycle, identifying major anthropogenic sources (fossil fuel combustion, land-use change), natural and managed sinks (oceans, forests, soils), carbon fluxes and budgets, measurement approaches, key feedbacks, and environmental consequences such as climate change and ocean acidification; assess ability to interpret simple data, explain cause–effect relationships, and evaluate mitigation options.
