Assess early learners' understanding of how different habitats supply animals' basic needs for food, water, and shelter. Include picture-based identification of habitat features (plants, ponds, burrows, trees), matching animals to suitable habitats, and short justification prompts asking students to explain in one or two simple sentences how a habitat element meets an animal's need. Items should target recognition, simple reasoning, and vocabulary (habitat, food, water, shelter) for Pre-K–Grade 2.
