Assess undergraduate students' recall of the primary functions and constitutional powers of the three branches of the U.S. federal government — legislative (Congress: lawmaking, budgetary authority, oversight, advice and consent, impeachment), executive (President: law enforcement, commander-in-chief, appointments, treaties, veto), and judicial (Supreme Court and federal judiciary: interpretation of law, judicial review, lifetime tenure) — and include basic examples of checks and balances (veto, override, judicial review, confirmation, impeachment).
