Assess students’ ability to analyze cohesion and coherence strategies in research-article introductions across humanities and STEM: identify cohesive devices (reference, conjunction, lexical repetition/choice, substitution, ellipsis), map rhetorical moves and macro-structure (problem–gap–hook, literature positioning, purpose statements), compare discipline-specific conventions, evaluate how these strategies affect logical flow and reader comprehension, and propose targeted revisions to improve clarity and disciplinary fit using short excerpts.
