Assess students' ability to classify common animals as walkers, swimmers, or flyers and to analyze which body parts and basic adaptations (legs, fins, wings, tails, webbed feet) enable each type of movement. Tasks may include sorting pictures or names into movement categories, labeling or pointing to key body parts, giving simple evidence-based explanations for why a body part helps an animal move, and comparing two animals to justify which is better suited to a movement type; use age-appropriate language and activities for Pre-K–Grade 2.
