Assess students' understanding of how the U.S. Constitution's system of checks and balances limits government power by testing knowledge of the distinct roles and powers of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches; concrete checks (vetoes, legislative overrides, judicial review, confirmations, impeachment/removal); and ability to analyze historical or contemporary examples that illustrate how these mechanisms prevent or resolve abuses of power.
