Assess students' ability to recall and identify the First Ten Amendments (the Bill of Rights) and their primary protections—matching amendment numbers to core rights such as free speech, religion, press, assembly, petition; bearing arms; quartering of troops; protection from unreasonable searches and seizures; rights in criminal prosecutions (due process, protection against self‑incrimination and double jeopardy); speedy and public trial, trial by jury; jury trial in civil cases; and protection from excessive bail and cruel or unusual punishment.
