Assess students' ability to analyze how the constitutional principles of checks and balances and separation of powers shape federal policymaking, including legislative drafting and passage, presidential actions (vetoes, executive orders, appointments), judicial review, congressional oversight and budgeting; students will interpret constitutional clauses, evaluate case studies and contemporary policy scenarios to explain branch interactions, constraints on policy change, and trade-offs in institutional design.
