Test undergraduate students' understanding of the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon, with emphasis on how urban design factors (land cover, materials, morphology) and microclimate processes (radiation balance, convection, nocturnal cooling) interact to influence public health outcomes (heat stress, air quality, vulnerable populations), including measurement/modeling approaches, evaluation of mitigation and adaptation strategies (green infrastructure, albedo, shading, ventilation corridors), and implications for equitable policy and planning; items will assess causal mechanisms, interpretation of simple data/maps, and evaluation of interventions.
