Assess students' ability to analyze how agriculture, urban development, and forest cover influence a local watershed’s water quality (nutrients, sediments, pollutants) and flood risk. Students will interpret simple land-use maps and runoff diagrams, identify pollutant sources and changes in infiltration/runoff, explain cause–effect relationships and trade-offs, and propose practical mitigation strategies (e.g., riparian buffers, cover crops, green infrastructure). Scenarios ask them to predict relative changes in water quality and flood frequency under alternative land-use configurations.
