Assess undergraduate understanding of Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and instructional scaffolding: define ZPD, explain the role of social interaction and “more competent others,” identify common scaffolding techniques, analyze teacher and peer roles in moving learners from actual to potential development, design brief instructional adjustments based on assessed ZPD, and critique limitations and classroom implications.
