Test students' ability to analyze how water, shelter, and food determine which animals live in a pond, forest, or backyard. Students will identify animals suited to each habitat, compare and contrast habitat needs, match animals to habitats with simple evidence, and explain how changing one feature (for example, less water or removed shelter) would alter which animals are present. Use picture cards or short descriptions; responses may be oral, drawn, or written appropriate for Pre-K–Grade 2.
