Assess learners' ability to apply principles of experimental design and statistical power to plan and interpret controlled laboratory studies, including formulating testable hypotheses, choosing controls, randomization/blinding, replication and blocking, selecting outcome measures and appropriate statistical tests, calculating sample size and power (effect size, alpha, beta), interpreting p-values and confidence intervals, and identifying common pitfalls (multiple comparisons, biases, underpowering).
