Assess students' understanding of the natural carbon cycle (major reservoirs and fluxes: photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, ocean uptake, sedimentation) and how human activities (fossil fuel combustion, land-use change, deforestation, cement production) alter atmospheric CO2 levels, climate forcing, and related feedbacks; includes interpreting diagrams and simple CO2 budget reasoning as well as evaluating mitigation approaches.
