Scope includes definition and computation of ε-pseudospectra and resolvent norms, relation between eigenvalues and pseudospectra, mechanisms of non-modal transient amplification, use of singular value decomposition and operator norms to find optimal perturbations and growth bounds, basic numerical methods for plotting pseudospectra and computing transient response for small matrices or discretized operators, and interpreting implications for stability predictions in applied settings.
