Assess the candidate’s ability to design a corpus-informed rubric and an accompanying automated scoring algorithm for genre-specific graduate-level academic writing by EAL students. Required elements: select/compile a representative genre corpus; define genre-specific analytic criteria (moves, cohesion, register, disciplinary lexis, grammar); create annotation and reliability procedures; specify feature extraction and explainable ML/NLP model pipeline; demonstrate validity, reliability, fairness for EAL writers; and outline deployment and ethical safeguards.
