Assess students' understanding of the global carbon cycle by testing knowledge of natural reservoirs (atmosphere, oceans, biosphere, lithosphere), key fluxes and timescales, human perturbations (fossil fuel combustion, land-use change), how sinks and sources are altered, and the climate implications (greenhouse effect, radiative forcing, feedbacks); include simple carbon budget interpretation and cause–effect reasoning suitable for grades 9–12.
